Hip Hop Beats and Instrumentals - Is It Better To Make Them Yourself?

,
LEARN HOW TO MAKE RAP BEATS :

At first glance it might seem that being a producer/rapper might be better because you could just save money on beats or make whatever type of beat you want for yourself BUT that's only one side of the coin.

Hip Hop Beats and Instrumentals - Is It Better To Make Them Yourself?

You might think it's better to have an extra slash after your name (Rapper/Producer) but before you take on a whole new craft here's a few things you might want to think about. For starters, do you even know what it takes to make a whole beat. Well let me supply you with a list, that you might be interested in:

First you would have to find beat making software, buy a midi controller and download some good sounds.

Then you would have to learn how to use the beat making software, how to program drums, create melodies, create chord progressions, create bass lines, find out what sounds go together, find good samples, chop samples, layer drums, create new sounds, how different tempo structures work, how to create intros, how to create chorus sections, how to create a bridge, how to arrange a beat, how every instrument should sound when creating melodies with the instrument and this is just some of what you'll have to learn.

So you could see that if you wanted to go down the path of producer/rapper, you would be wasting your time and just putting your dreams of rap stardom on hold. The little time you already spend on being a rapper would be split in half and then instead of ending up a great rapper your destined to be an average rapper with below average beats.

Look at it this way, it's been discovered that it takes an average person about 3,000 hours of study and practice to become a top AMATEUR at their craft. So that would be an hour a day for about 8 years. Also for the same average person to become world-class, it would take them 10,000 hours of study and practice.

So my advice is to pick one thing (like rapping or singing) and MASTER it, then if later on you want to try mastering something new (producing) THEN you can do that. But for now focus on perfecting at what your good at. I would suggest paying someone else to do what your not so good at. This lets you focus on doing your thing.

Electrolyte Replacement is Important For Summer Exercise

,
LEARN HOW TO MAKE RAP BEATS :

It's summer! The days are longer, the weather is warmer, and kids are off from school. We all want to play more in the summer, taking advantage of longer days and nicer weather. With our coastline and mountains, San Diego is a Mecca for outdoor activity. Surfing, swimming, in-line skating, running, bicycling, mountain biking, rock climbing, and a wide variety of team sports are the tip of the iceberg for our summer activities.

Electrolyte Replacement is Important For Summer Exercise

We're all taught to make sure we drink enough water during exercise. Many health care providers recommend drinking at least eight glasses of water per day, and more during the summer or while exercising. What doesn't get mentioned is that drinking much more than this can dilute essential minerals and electrolytes which can cause a whole host of problems. I learned this firsthand while on a bicycle tour in the midwest during one of the most severe heat waves Missouri has seen in June! I found myself drinking nearly 3 gallons of water daily to keep from being thirsty, which filled my belly so much it was hard to eat enough calories to sustain 70-mile days on a bicycle. Even eating salty snacks, salting my food more than usual, and taking a double dose of my usual potassium, multi-mineral, and calcium supplements had me barely keeping up with electrolytes. Several people on the ride spent an afternoon in the emergency room for an IV of Ringer's solution after suffering severe heat exhaustion and electrolyte depletion. This type of emergency can easily be avoided if you pay attention to electrolytes in addition to fluid intake alone.

What are electrolytes, and why do we need them?

In chemistry, every atom has a certain number of protons (positively charged) and electrons (negatively charged). A stable atom has an equal number of protons and electrons, and has no electrical charge. An ion is an atom that has an uneven number of protons and electrons, giving it a positive or negative electrical charge. An electrolyte is any substance containing free ions that behaves as an electrically conductive medium.

In physiology, the primary ions of electrolytes are sodium (Na+), potassium (K+), calcium (Ca2+), magnesium (Mg2+), and chloride (Cl−). The electric charge symbols of plus (+) and minus (−) indicate that the substance in question is ionic in nature and has an imbalanced distribution of electrons.

Both muscles and nerves are considered electric tissues. Muscles and nerves are activated by electrolyte activity between interstitial fluid (fluid between the cells) and intercellular fluid (fluid within the cells). Electrolytes may enter or leave a cell through the cell membrane and are required for a variety of cellular functions. For example, muscle contraction is dependent upon the presence of calcium (Ca2+), sodium (Na+), and potassium (K+). Without sufficient levels of these key electrolytes, muscle weakness or severe muscle contractions may occur.

Electrolyte balance is maintained by intake of electrolyte-containing substances, and is regulated by hormones as well as by the kidneys. back to top

Which electrolytes do we need?

Sodium
While sodium gets a bad rap from the people concerned about blood pressure, it is actually required for a variety of cellular functions and we can't live without it. A human being requires approximately 500mg of sodium per day for basic physiological functions. Sodium is one of the minerals required for nerve impulses to occur (nerve impulses facilitate every message from the brain to our muscles and internal organs). It is also important for maintaining appropriate blood volume.

For most of us, the issue with sodium is overconsumption rather than underconsumption. Most processed foods contain outrageous amounts of sodium, so it is easy to consume far more than 500mg/day. Consumption of large amounts of sodium can become problematic for people with kidney problems or high blood pressure.

When we exercise on hot days, thirst often drives us to drink far more water than we ordinarily would. This is good to a point - once you become thirsty, you are already dehydrated. But, drinking too much water can lead to water intoxication or hyponatremia (low levels of sodium in the blood). Symptoms of sodium imbalance include headache, general malaise, nausea, and vomiting. When levels drop below a certain point, hyponatremia can be life threatening.

Almond et al. (1) found hyponatremia in as many as 13% of runners in a recent Boston Marathon, with life-threatening hyponatremia in 0.6%. The runners at greatest risk of serious water intoxication had moderate weight gain during the race due to excessive water consumption.

Sodium is not the only mineral which becomes diluted when we drink too much water. Potassium, magnesium, calcium, manganese, selenium, and other trace minerals can also become diluted in the bloodstream. back to top

Potassium
Potassium is required for all cellular communication and nerve conduction. It is present in a variety of foods, including almonds, bananas, cucumbers, apricots, avocados, tomatoes, potatoes (especially the skins), wheat germ, and others. Low potassium in the blood stream is called hypokalemia.

Mild hypokalemia is often without symptoms, although it may cause a small elevation of blood pressure and can occasionally lead to an irregular heart beat. Moderate hypokalemia may cause muscular weakness, muscle aching, muscle cramps (due to disturbed function of the skeletal muscles), and constipation (from disturbed function of smooth muscles). back to top

Calcium
Calcium is required for healthy bones, normal muscle contraction, and nerve conduction. Dietary sources of calcium include milk products, broccoli, cauliflower, pinto beans, aduki beans, soybeans, almonds, brazil nuts, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, molasses, and others.

Mild calcium deficiency (as could occur during exercise as opposed to long term dietary deficiency) can cause muscle cramps, heart palpitations, numbness or tingling in the hands and feet, irritability, and mental confusion.

A recent study showed that competitive cyclists have a much greater than average chance of osteoporosis because intense physical exercise over long periods of time can deplete calcium in the body. (4,5)

Magnesium, vitamin C, and vitamin D are needed to aid absorption of calcium. back to top

Magnesium
Magnesium is involved in several hundred enzymatic reactions in the human body, many of which contribute to production of energy (conversion of glucose to ATP) and cardiovascular function. It is the "anti-stress" mineral as it functions to relax skeletal muscles as well as the smooth muscles of the blood vessels and digestive tract. It is essential for modulating the electrical potential of cell membranes which allows nutrients to get into and out of cells.

Symptoms of magnesium deficiency can include fatigue, lack of appetite, irritability, insomnia, muscle tremors, and muscle twitching. Severe magnesium deficiency can lead to muscle cramping, mental confusion, and spasm of the coronary artery.

Dietary sources of magnesium include dark green vegetables, almonds, pecans, cashews, brazil nuts, wheat bran, wheat germ, millet, brown rice, avocado, dried apricot, and soy products. back to top

How do we get enough electrolytes while staying hydrated?

For mild to moderate exercise (say 60-90 minutes of moderate-intensity activity), eating some salted almonds, dried apricots, avocado, bananas, or pickles after your workout is probably sufficient. 1/8 tsp of sea salt in one of your water bottles or one bottle of sports drink wouldn't hurt, but you're probably OK without. Plain old iodized salt contains only sodium chloride, and lacks the other trace minerals found in sea salt, so sea salt is what you need for this application!

For more extreme exercise (say riding a mountain bike for 4 hours in 100 degree heat), you will need an electrolyte replacement sports drink for at least 50% of your fluid intake. You may need additional supplements for potassium, calcium, magnesium, and vitamin C. Camelbak's Elixir product contains all these minerals in an easy to carry tablet form which dissolves quickly without powdery residue in your water bottle. (No, I am NOT a representative for Camelbak, nor do I sell their products. I've just been happy with my experience with the Elixir!) Many companies are now making jelly beans, jelly blocks, and other chewy electrolyte replacement products. My favorites (based on my taste preference AND a high percentage of organic ingredients with minimal artificial stuff) include Sharkies electrolyte chews and Cliff Blocks.

If you are routinely doing extreme exercise (more than one day per week), you should also take a basic multi- mineral supplement which provides the macro minerals discussed in this article along with a whole host of trace minerals. I would be happy to make recommendations, and I do carry a multi-mineral supplement in my office. back to top

First aid for electrolyte depletion during exercise

Should you find yourself feeling undue fatigue, malaise, lightheadedness, disorientation, nausea, vomiting, palpitations, muscle aching, or muscle cramping during a warm weather workout, STOP what you are doing!

Get inside and cool off, have a glass of cool apple juice with ¼ tsp of salt in it and a banana or pickle if your stomach allows.

If you do not feel better within 30 minutes, seek medical attention - you may be in a state of electrolyte depletion which requires IV replacement to prevent a medical emergency.

Be safe, and have fun with your summer activities!

Music Review of Off With Their Heads by Kaiser Chiefs

,
LEARN HOW TO MAKE RAP BEATS :

"Kaiser Chiefs" are a five-piece indie rock band hailed from Leeds, England. They consist of frontman Ricky Wilson (Vocals), Andrew 'Whitey' White (Guitar), Simon Rix (Bass), Nick 'Peanut' Baines (Keyboards) and Nick Hodgson (Drums). They are noted for their musical genre in post-punk revival and new wave. Kaiser Chiefs were formed way back in 1996 - 1997. On an interview with BBC, Kaiser Chiefs were named after South African football club Kaizer Chiefs, a club where former Leeds United defender Lucas Radebe played for.

Music Review of Off With Their Heads by Kaiser Chiefs

The third album Off With Their Heads kicks off with cheeky "Spanish Metal". Pay attention to the keyboard, it's like a modern background music used in a cowboy flick, especially when two cowboys are preparing to draw their pistols for a gun fight. Just cute isn't it? Spanish Metal is a heavy guitar-based introducing track, in the verse, you'll find frontman Ricky singing in a somewhat very subtle voice. I find this track kind of cute. Go Kaiser Chiefs!

"Never Miss A Beat" is very funky and catchy. The combination of the singing and the music fit in very well here. Once the first verse comes in, i already knew i'm going to like this track. Check out the lyrics, "What did you learn today? I learned nothing. What did you do today? I did nothing. What did you learn at school? I didn't go. Why didn't you go to school? I don't know..." It's simple, but yet it ables to make me repeat these phrases over and over again. Starting to stuck in my head. Never Miss A Beat is always building up the tempo and climbing up the stairs, once it reaches the peak, then only Ricky and other featured guests can be heard singing together. The featured guests are Lily Allen and three members of indie band New Young Pony Club, Anne-Marie Chirema, Lou Hayter and Sarah Jones. Nice guests appearances.

"Like It Too Much" has this thing that makes me hopes that this track is never going to stop. When it reaches a certain point like the chorus and once Ricky is almost done singing the chorus, the music and rhythm just gets me hoping for more singing from Ricky. It sounds complicated, but it's true. Like It Too Much is also the only track that features the phrase "Off With Their Heads" in its lyrics. What makes this track unforgettable is the string arrangements by David Arnold of James Bond fame and the inclusion of a number of instruments such as violin, viola and cello. After a few listens, you would find as if Kaiser Chiefs were performing with the help of a big orchestra. Bravo!

"You Want History" has a strong electronic elements and at times, groovy. Anne-Marie Chirema, Lou Hayter and Sarah Jones of New Young Pony Club again do some backing vocals on this track. The singing by Ricky sounds like a robot to me in his effort to follow the beat and rhythm of the music. The beginning of You Want History is cute with the electronic music going on, as this song goes along, the chorus is catchy as well, as Ricky sings, "It's a mystery, oh, it's a mystery, you want history, oh its a mystery...", the keyboard just comes in. I find it catchy in a faint hilarious way.

In "Can't Say What I Mean", you'd find frontman Ricky hardly has time to gasp for air. It's fast and groovy. The bass especially sounds like a motorcyle's engine, it just keeps grooving. The keyboard also being played in a way that is so cheeky i would say. It just has the same rhythm all the way, but it blends in just fine. Great and cute stuff again by Kaiser Chiefs!

"Good Days Bad Days" is very cheerful and positive. It starts from a distance before the rest of Kaiser Chiefs just come in and join the fun. The guitar especially is very, very catchy. Amazing riff! With each verse, the guitar just follows, making it unbearable to miss it. When comes the break, the short guitar solo and the djembe playing are really something to be remembered. When you're feeling down, have a break and listen to Good Days Bad Days, this music is designed to make you feel good. Have a look at their final verse, "If you had a different attitude, instead of take and take and take, you have missed an opportunity, and that's a really big mistake, if you had a different attitude, you'd still have good days and bad days..." I feel great now!

Kaiser Chiefs slow it down with "Tomato In The Rain". I would describe this track as soft and infectious. Ricky's voice is found soft throughout this lovely track and the music in the chorus has a hook that is really infectious. This only part is short, but can cause a stir. "Yes I do know about you, shall I come home...?", what a lovely and simple phrase, but whenever Ricky sings this phrase, the whole Kaiser Chiefs just let themselves in and provide some backing vocals for Ricky. Lovingly infectious!

"Half The Truth" brings the notches up again! The keyboard on this track is kind of good. Ricky doesn't really sound like singing, he sounds more like rapping and talking his way through this track. Fast and furious! When the chorus comes, the keyboard is played in a way that you would only hear it in a haunted house. Nice and scary. The lyrics are also written smartly, "I will not lie to you, but i defiantly only gave you half the truth, i wil not lie to you...". It puts smile on my face after listening to it. Kaiser Chiefs also brought in a special guest, Sway DaSafo (A rapper from UK), to help finish Half The Truth in style! Crunchy!

"Always Happens Like That" is a funky and groovy pop song from Kaiser Chiefs. It has the quality to make one dance. After each verse, Ricky will go, "And it always happens like that..." Lily Allen is also featured on this track, they make a great team singing together. The guitar on Always Happens Like That is also everything but sad. It'll make you feel better and happier, just like Good Days Bad Days. At times, it reminds me of Nick Valensi of The Strokes with the chirpy guitar sound.

"Addicted To Drugs" awed me at the beginning with the Agogo bells (Courtesy of producer Mark Ronson). It's very delicious how the Agogo bells fit in so well into this track. It's very, very groovy here. The music here doesn't fit the title at all, it sounds more cheerful than it should be if you just look at the title, Addicted To Drugs. This track alone can be the anthem for Off With Their Heads, the part where Kaiser Chiefs go, "Woah... Yeah..." will definitely straighten you up right away. In fact, Kaiser Chiefs make this song sweaty sexy as well.

Wow, after a great deal of some cheeky and catchy tunes, Kaiser Chiefs' "Remember You're A Girl" is also not to be taken lightly. Remember You're A Girl is a lovely indie pop tune that you'd find almost every member of Kaiser Chiefs contributes on the singing part. It's very soothing to listen to such track after a long hard day at the office or work. Ricky and co. can be heard singing in a softer tone, as if singing to little children who are fast asleep. Just so lovely and sweet!

Stand-Out Tracks (My Picks): Never Miss A Beat, Like It Too Much, Good Days Bad Days, Tomato In The Rain, Half The Truth, Always Happens Like That, Addicted To Drugs and Remember You're A Girl.

Online Beat Maker

,
LEARN HOW TO MAKE RAP BEATS :

Beats are sounds used by musicians and producers in synthesizing two or more sound sources that are put directly together where were interfering with each other in order to attain the needed product of a beat. An example would be when two adjacent notes are played on the piano with frequencies of 220 Hz and 233 Hz. This produces a beat at 13 Hz and this is heard as a "wa-wa-wa" sound. This usually belongs to the genre of Hip Hop, Rap, R&B and Instrumentals.

Online Beat Maker

With an exclusive beat, you have procured limited ownership. The product can only be used by people who created it or paid for its rights. Exclusive beatgives the buyer the sole ownership of the beat and can never be used again by another owner.

Musicians are constantly seeking ways to make their music unique and to stand out from the competition. Today artists redefine music by pushing the envelope, learning to make the music new and different. Hence the definition of exclusive beats.

If you would like to obtain some exclusive beats, there are a few things to help you along the way. First, listen to and decide which beats you want. At the point of obtaining exclusive beats, be sure it's what you really want. Narrow your choices down to the ones you like the most. Then decide if you want demo, lease or exclusive rights to the beats. It's important you know how to exercise whichever rights you choose.

Demos have optional choices. It can get complicated when you have leasing or exclusive rights. There is difference between the leasing and exclusive rights? When you lease a beat you don't have sole ownership of the beats. Leasing is a good idea in situations where you perhaps have dreams of recording a demo after you listened to some rap beats, but you really don't intend to do anything serious about it. Leasing works well when selling a mix tape or giving away your music for exposure.

Exclusives are similar to leasing but more like creating an album. You'll need to own the masters to combine your vocals with the tracks. This would be like the completion when you are ready for shrink wrap and bar coding your CDs for commercial use. No other artist can release the material on that album except you. You can then buy and get the music instantly in your e-mail. Prices can ranges anywhere from cheap to more expensive pricing, depending upon the track and the producer.

After beats are purchased and released, whether you make big money or not, you don't owe anything more to the source where you purchased your beats. The seller has the rights to show a "sold" beat while all other rights are yours.

Exclusive beats give meaning to the music industry. Often used in websites, albums, commercials, performances and any other promotions. The use show the uniqueness of the individual. Other than the pure talent of the owner, it shows individuality by the diversity of the music.

If One Considers That Old School Rappers Should Retire From The Rap Game...

,
LEARN HOW TO MAKE RAP BEATS :

...Who is gonna teach the new breeds of emcees?

If One Considers That Old School Rappers Should Retire From The Rap Game...

I am back home and happy: I just acquired my brand new issue of the UK's best known hip hop mag, The Hip Hop Connection, and started enjoying a few articles, plus two free CDS. That's something. At least for hip hop lovers like me...however, I came across an article entitled Should old school rappers be forced to retire? that kinda shocked me, or more precisely, some ideas that the article mentioned above conveyed.

It looks like a specific category of persons in the hip hop industry do think that the rap game is only a young man s game.
Little did you know about hip hop if you really think so- that's my point-and I will give you some valid arguments to feed your reflection on this theme.

If it is totally true that a few old school rappers are incapable of renewing their themes and don t seem to evolve with their time, one should consider that many old school masters are very much needed to perfect the game.
Yes, it is true, Jay-Z's Kingdom Come is probably one of the most annoying and distasteful album I recently heard. But talking about Jay-Z s recent lack of imagination doesn t allow people to talk about old school rappers as a whole.

Don t misunderstand me: I am not against new talents. As the passionate music journalist I actually am, I am always in search of new talents. I like to discover young, talented emcees in the jungle of the undiscovered. However, I am convinced that, as much talented as emcees from the new generations might be, they need to learn a lot of techniques from their predecessors. As well as old school rappers learnt from The Godfather of Soul, James Brown and from George Clinton, for instance, new school rappers need to learn from the giants in the rap game.

A reader of XXL( shame on him) implied that Nas was a dinosaur and that he should live with it. It was meant: he can f*ck off with his old themes and should stop saying that hip hop is dead, because he is not very open minded towards the current evolution of the rap game!

My point is: if you are incapable of valuating geniuses like Nas and respect their criticism of hip hop, I am not sure that you really have the maturity needed to fully get their point and to understand where those people come from. As a consequence, you will probably also lack a clear vision of the current rap game too.

Nas has been acclaimed for his great, researched lyricism. His first album, Illmatic, should be a model of inspiration for any emcee who wants to make some real hip hop. Nasir Jones deserves respect for his amazing skills and for always reminding African Americans of their African roots.
How can you stab an amazing lyricist like Nas when you are so far under his radar? First sit down, listen to his music and learn from him. Then you might be entitled to constructive criticism towards him.

I doubt that the game would be the same without Dr Dre. Are you going to tell Dr Dre that he is too old to rap or to produce any track? Just shut up!

Newcomers might bring loads of creativity and new themes in their music, but I doubt that any of them will ever make the same dope ass beats that are so typical to his music.

Yes, the rap game needs to renew itself with a new breed of inventive and skilled emcees, but it would be nothing without the giants that made the game.

If you don't pay respect to people like Grandmaster Flash who initiated the very beginnings of hip hop, I am not really sure that you will be capable of appreciating the most contemporary forms of rap music to the fullest.

All those people made the game. They are the pioneers. Don t prompt to put their Cds in the trash, rather learn from their accumulated knowledge and wisdom over the years!

The first and most foremost decision you need to make is "do you like music"? Of course everyone does, sounds silly, but do you REALLY like music, and not just your own preference - can you listen to rock, house, alternative, rap, 60's etc. You may not need to love other types, but you have to appreciate music!

Learn How to DJ

Becoming a DJ can be a long process but also expensive. The rewards of succeeding will be worth it, but it will take hard work, lots of practice and strange hours!

To get started with your new DJ'ing career you will require access to audio equipment, preferably your own. When we started, I hijacked my dads stereo system and got my hands on a DJ mixer. Maybe its not a great idea since I destroyed it and took a whole world of trouble! The truth though is it was got us started. So to get off the ground you will need a decent DJ mixer, a power amplifier and speakers to match the amplifier. I do not suggest that you spend your only money on the only system you can afford as it won't be long before you are looking at a new system. You need decent systems! People do not like distorted or top heavy sound, it will ruin your reputation before you even get going. You will also need a media source, if using CD's/MP3 then dual pitch control players, you can also get hard drive type players, PC etc. There's generally a lot more control from vinyl or CD though and it still the preferred. For vinyl, maybe a couple SL1200 technic turntables, but they don't come cheap! At the very least the turntables must have pitch (speed) control. Concentrate on decent sound before you invest in lights, sound will get you further than lights! If you really are not sure what sound to get, get help with experienced people. We have contact information on our web that can assist with your selections

What type of DJ are you going to become? Again, sounds obvious... "A DJ"! It's not really just that simple, mobile DJ's music selection will be very different to club DJ selection of music. If you ONLY have RAP in your music collection, you will have to broaden you music base in order to do mobile DJ'ing. I thinks its fair to say in terms of music, you will learn the most as a mobile DJ and gain experience with everything from 60's music to latest charts house/rap/modern etc. If your music collection is a set type of music only, you may have to consider club immediately but the reality is not many clubs will let you onto there decks without some experience to show! A mobile rig will teach you music why? - Consider the music you will be playing at a 50 year birthday party versus an 18th birthday party. They are going to be completely different styles of music in general, more rock n' roll at the one and latest charts at the other... but you never what is going to make people tick at the party, that's what makes it so interesting. When everyone goes home before you, you stuffed up! When you have to close and most of the people are still on the dance floor... you feel good because you are!

You need to learn to mix! Generally a good start is when mixing between 2 songs, do not try to drag the mix out for a minute, make it fairly quick smooth 5 - 15 seconds or so. Don't have both songs playing at full level at all when learning, if its wrong it sounds awful! Practice the long beat for beat mixes at home first. You will need to learn to count music in 8's, every beat count 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8... start again. Practice, practice, practice makes perfect with DJ mixing.

Beat for beat mixing is not easy, but when you start to get it, it comes quickly. Whilst learning try not to use the pitch controls to much (don't adjust the speed of the music) by selecting music with very similar beats. Changing pitch to the point the music sounds stupid is easy, choosing the correct mix is the challenge! When you want change beat from fast to slow, rather cut mix it, when one song ends, the other starts immediately.. also takes practice but easy to get.

Start off playing at friends party's for free. That way if it goes wrong, then no expectations, no money... next! As you start getting better, people will start asking for you! When they start asking, you can start charging and making some money. Remember, this is no exact science or quick fix. It could take months to get here but persist and go for it and you might get into faster than you know.

DJ'ing is a rewarding career and at the very least certainly can make some decent pocket money. Many end up in a full time career of music in one way or another.

You should definitely know that learning how to rap can be done but it will take some work especially if you are a complete newbie, but there's no need to worry it is very doable. In this article I will give you some easy to follow steps that can be used to get you rapping in a fairly short period of time.

Want to Learn to Rap? - Follow These 6 Simple Steps

There is a lot of information that is out there when it comes to learning how to rap, but if you start by focusing on the steps listed below you should be just fine. So here are six steps that you can use starting today.

Take Learning How To Rap Serious - One of the biggest reasons that I find that people fail at learning how to rap is because they do not take it serious. If you are not serious you will definitely not succeed with rapping or with anything for that matter. You must approach this with some sort of passion or you will get no where in a hurry. You should be willing to dedicate some time to learning and perfecting this craft. Once you have that you will be ready to learn to rap.

Listen To All Kinds Of Rappers - I say this because your average rap fan only listens to those rappers that they like, but when it comes to learning how to rap listening to all types of rappers will make it easier for you to learn. Why you ask? Well, listening to a variety of artist will allow you to evaluate and implement  some of their qualities that will help you to become the ultimate rhyme spitter and performer.

Read A Ton - This is definitely one of the most effective but underrated pieces of advice that I can give on this subject. Reading is a great way to open up your mind and keep the creative juices flowing. I know you may already have some favorite magazine that you may read on a regular basis but when I say read a lot I mean read a lot of different things. I'm talking everything from newspapers to long novels. Read it all. Trust me it helps a lot.

Start Writing Short Rhymes - At this point you are serious about wanting to learn to rap, you have studied other rappers and you have been reading a lot. Now it's time to start writing some rhymes. I didn't say songs I said rhymes. Start writing 8-10 line rhymes about anything. Do not try to rap them yet just write them down. After you have a couple written start to memorize them. Just get these rhymes in your head.

Rap Over A Instrumental - Get you a instrumental from somewhere. You can find tons of them all over the web. Once you have some pick one that you like and spit one of your  short written raps that you should have in your head. Now put a couple of your written raps together and really try to stay on beat with the instrumental. Now just repeat this step with the ones above and do it again and again. You will notice that your rhymes will come easier and your creativity will be greatly expanded.

Practice, Practice, Practice - Yes, there is more to learning how to rap then what is listed here but the steps that are listed in this articles are applied you will definitely be getting off on the right foot. Just make some time everyday to work on your rapping. You know what they say, "practice makes perfect".

Top Notch Steps on How to Make Your Own Rap Beats

,
LEARN HOW TO MAKE RAP BEATS :

People think it is difficult to make rap beats. To tell you honestly, the only thing that makes it difficult is the fact that you need to make it sound original. If you want to know how to make your own rap beats, you simply need persistence and ensure that you will not give up. The problem with many aspiring rappers is they easily give up. Below you will see step by step procedures on how you can make rap beats that you can call entirely your own.

Top Notch Steps on How to Make Your Own Rap Beats

First off, you need to have a grasp of rhythm. You will not learn how to make your own rap beats if you will not understand your own rhythm. To do this, just listen to any instrumental beat and get the rhythm. Start bobbing your head and get the feel of the music. Then you can start working on your won flow. Keep in mind that when you make rap beats, the melody should still be there and that you should not change beat numbers. For example, if you used a 4-beat method n the first stanza, you should use the same in the second or third stanza, you can only change in the chorus.

If you want to add lyrics to the beat you made, you may want to have a dictionary at bay or close to you. Since the beat is something that needs consistency, the word count should also be kept to a minimum without distorting the message. There are urban dictionaries that you can use if you want to learn how to make your own rap beat and improve it as well.

Lastly, do not stop practicing. Learning how to make your own rap beats is tedious and may become frustrating at times. Keep in mind that glory does not come without sweat and blood. As you progress, you will be able to develop your own style more firmly and you should be able to grasp your rhythm faster.

How to Rap Better - 5 Rap Freestyling Tips

,
LEARN HOW TO MAKE RAP BEATS :

If you want to find out how to rap better, then read this now. You will learn to rap so you can impress your friends and win rap battles.

How to Rap Better - 5 Rap Freestyling Tips

Step #1: Use the 1-2-3-4 formula

If you want to learn how to rap, then always follow the 1-2-3-4 phase formula. You can turn every hip hop song into a 4 step beat formula. Every time there is an emphasis in the rap, that is one of the 4 numbers.

An easy way to use this formula is to use your hand and move from left to right every phase. That will make it easier when to make your flow rhyme. You want to usually rhyme on the same phase of the formula.

For example, you want to rhyme every 4th phase. So the next 4th phase you want to make your word rhyme with the previous 4th phase of the 1-2-3-4 formula.

Step #2: Rap with other friends

Another secret on how to rap better is to freestyle rap with your friends. It is much more fun to freestyle rap with friends than to do it yourself. But you can make it a playful competition by freestyling against each other for fun. This will make your freestyle rapping skills to improve much faster than before.

If you can't find anyone to rap with, just go to an online voice chatroom and look for a chatroom that has a lot of hip hop fans. You will easily find people who are willing to freestyle rap with you or battle. Just have fun because the more you have fun, the more you will get better at freestyling.

Step #3: Create your own "Emcee Identity"

Another tip to learn to rap is create your own rapper identity. A lot of hip hop emcees try too hard to be someone else. They want to be like the next big hit so they make their hair look like the latest hip hop artist or rapper. But when you do that, you lose a lot of your own originality.

Instead of trying to be someone else, take some time to reflect on who you are. Look into your own life experiences and find out what makes you unique. Whatever that is, add them up to create your own unique emcee identity. Once you create your own rapper identity, you will have more ownership to it and thus you will have much more conviction and power when you rap.

Step #4: Use a rhyming dictionary

To improve your rhyming skills, just get yourself a rhyming dictionary. A rhyming dictionary is a dictionary that gives a list of rhyming words. This is a very helpful tool to help you incorporate words to make your freestyle rhyme and sound better.

Step #5: Focus on your own skills

A lot of rappers focus too much on other rappers. That is not good because you can end up being discouraged if you see other hip hop artists do better. So don't focus on other people's lives or their rapping skills. Instead, focus on your own skills. The more you focus on your own freestyle rapping skills, the faster you will improve as a hip hop artist.

How to Make Professional Rap Beats in FL Studio in 4 Steps

,
LEARN HOW TO MAKE RAP BEATS :

There are many factors that need to be taken into account if you wish to be successful at creating professional, industry standard beats in FL Studio. In this article I will touch on the key factors that you will need to master and this is what separates the pros from the amateurs when producing hot rap beats.

How to Make Professional Rap Beats in FL Studio in 4 Steps

Where to Start

Some people have a preference in what instrument they first want to layout when producing beats in FL Studio. Some prefer the melody, some prefer the bass line and some prefer the drums. No answer to this is wrong or right, and it is mostly a matter of opinion, but for starters I will recommend laying out a good drum pattern first.

Before we get started, set your BPM (beats per minute) to something between 85 and 95.

Creating the Drum Pattern

First, search through your sounds for a nice, hard-hitting kick sample. In the example that we're going to create, you'll want to try to find a kick sound that hits hard but does not contain a lot of low-end sub bass (this will make it easier to mix with the bass later). Once you have found a good drum kick sound, fill in the steps on the step sequencer of where you would like the kick to be heard. Now, right-click on the sound in the step sequencer and select "Send to piano roll." This will put your drum kick pattern in the piano roll where you will want to adjust your velocity. Velocity is what gives the sound a human feel and not so robotic. Technically, velocity is to adjust how hard something is hit, or how hard a string is plucked, a piano key is pressed, etc. Play with this a little bit until your drum kick pattern starts to sound more human and natural.

Next, find a hi-hat sound that you like and again, click the steps where you want the hi-hat to be. Generally, every other note on the step sequencer is a good place to start. Now, do the same thing that you did with the kick sound and send the channel to the piano roll and adjust the velocity. This is even more important on the hi-hat than it is with the kick.

Now for the snare drum(s). I usually like to layer a few together to get the sound just right. I usually like a tight and hard-hitting sound, so I might mix a clap sound with a rim shot and then take 2 different traditional snare hits and turn the level down a little bit on those and then pan one to the right and one to the left at about 35%. For starters, you'll want to put your snare drum on every 4th step in the step sequencer.

Now, you can add more personal touch if you want using the same techniques already mentioned. Feel free to throw in a cowbell, tambourine, cymbal, etc.

Creating the Bass Line

In most hip hop, a low bass sound is used so really all it provides is power and thump and possibly a catchy tune that helps to "glue" the drum sounds together with the rest of the instruments. Choose a low bass sound that will give a good rumble when being bumped, and if there is too much high-end frequency to the sound then you can always cut it out with proper EQ or low-pass filter. I usually like to have the bass frequency set at 50 to 75hz and have the kick set at about 85 to 90 hz. You can also do this in reverse (have the kick lower frequency than the bass). The most important thing is that they don't both occupy the SAME frequency space. This is where most amateur beat makers struggle. It can take a lot of practice to mix the drum kick and the bass line together so that they don't sound weird or cause distortion when they're on top of each other. This will probably be the last thing that you master when learning to make beats because it can take precise EQ and compression to make it sound crisp and professional.

When writing the bass melody, start out simple. Choose a note scale that you want to use and stay within that scale. If you don't know music theory, start out by researching scales and pick one at random. Next, put a blank sound (use a sampler channel, or just turn the volume all the way down on the sound) in your step sequencer in fruity loops. Right click it and open the piano roll. Fill in all the notes in that scale, in every octave, and drag the edge of them so that they show up for the whole duration of the full pattern. Now, open the piano roll for your bass and click the little piano icon in the top left corner of the window. Select view > Ghost Channels. Now every note in the scale will be highlighted gray and you know to stay in these notes while writing your melody. This is a tip you really don't want to ignore because it can help you a lot!

Writing the Main Melody

First, choose your instrument. Let's pick something simple like a piano. Write a melody that goes along with the bass line. Sometimes you can copy your same bass line but then add more notes in between (remember I said to keep your bass line simple). If you have researched some music theory, you should use some chords here and there and use some type of chord progression. Remember to stay in the scale and always view Ghost Channels to make sure you're in the scale in you're unsure. If you want to stay simple you can just have the piano playing for the melody, but feel free to select a couple other complimentary instruments and add some accents here and there. Sometimes I like to use something like a violin just to emphasize certain notes or phrases in the melody.

Writing the Hook

The hook is where you can really go wild because it is the most climactic part of the song. You still want to stay in the correct scale of course, but you can add lots of strings and other instruments. You should either elaborate on the normal verse melody and make it more complex or you should write a totally new melody in the same scale. Remember to try to picture it with vocals on top of it and try to add things that will compliment a finished product / song.

Hip Hop Beat Maker - What is the Best Choice For Hip Hop Beat Maker Software? A Few Tips to Start!

,
LEARN HOW TO MAKE RAP BEATS :

This article will tell you more about hip hop beat makers and what they do, as well as what the best choice is if you are looking to get started creating your own rap beats or music.

Hip Hop Beat Maker - What is the Best Choice For Hip Hop Beat Maker Software? A Few Tips to Start!

When you first start looking for some easy to use, yet great sounding software that will help you to produce beats it can be a long search.

Here are some methods of making beats:

The first method that was available was of course a full recording studio and this is an awesome way to make beats, however you will have to have some knowledge in music production and also a good recording studio can end up costing 00+!

Luckily there has been some advances in technology and the next method of making beats is on your computer and to do this you need some "Desktop Audio Producers", there are a few about and the best are Cubase and Fruity Loops.

The way to think of these is like an electronic version of a recording studio, with all of the features that you need accessed digitally through your computer.

Although these programs are very good you need some knowledge in music production and also the price tag is quite steep for these as well.

So this leaves us with quite a lot of people that want to make beats for the first time, but not invest too much time and money in expensive programs.

Let's say it was not you for you, and then it would be quite a bit outlay in cash to lose!

So if you are just looking for a functional beat maker that will give you an introduction to the world of rap and hip hop beat creation then you should check out a good membership site.

What are the benefits of a good membership site?

Well it allows you to get access to a beat maker first and foremost, as well as that and what I believe to be the best thing is that you will be able to interact and share beats with like-minded people while learning from each other.

One such membership is Sonic Producer and it has a functional beat maker, nothing too complex although later on when you get used to using it there is a full video course that shows you how to get more technical with your beats.

The way of looking at the software is as a good introduction to making beats and all you need to do is put the sounds that you want together and then you can burn them onto CD and take them with you.

A good solution for a beginner and then of course if you like it you can go and get the more technical Cubase or Fruity Loops or even a recording studio!

Good Luck and Enjoy!

Self Victimization

,
LEARN HOW TO MAKE RAP BEATS :

We may have experienced being told that we are "too hard on ourselves," or that we are "our own worst enemy." These "diagnoses" do not offer us any insight into the psychodynamics of our self-punitive behavior. Why do we do this to ourselves? Perhaps now we can begin to see our self-criticisms and self-punishments as self-victimization, in a context of self-contempt. The facets of self-victimization become more apparent when we know where and how to look for them.

Self Victimization

Sufferers from the "Blame The Victim Syndrome," often blame themselves for the negative things that happen to them. Cara, our self-harmer, falls into this category. This is one of her early recollections:

Cara (age six): "I remember one time I went skating when I wasn't supposed to. My father said that it was too dangerous and I was too young. He had a violent temper. I fell and fractured my wrist. I was afraid to tell anyone, so it just healed by itself. It didn't heal right. It still bothers me today." In this recollection, Cara actively chooses to suffer the pain of her broken wrist in silence. She feels that it is her fault for disobeying her father and she deserves to suffer in silence. Also, she prefers this physical pain to the pain of her father's violent reaction to her disobedience.

As an adult, Cara continues to make decisions, which turn out to be painful for her in the end. When she cuts her arm, it is not that she enjoys the pain, she is not a masochist. Her choices are consistent with the way she perceives herself; she is now, and has always been, the victim of herself. She is relieving the pressure of the anger in her bloodstream and is in control of the "punishment." She is making her pain happen at a time and place of her own choosing. She is creating mischief and excitement in order to relieve the unutterable "boredom" of her despair and self-contempt. She is maintaining the continuity of her life role as the victim of self-inflicted pain.

It is bad enough when others blame us for "permitting" our victimization through "negligence," "stupidity" or even our "dumb luck." It is even worse when we make the mistake of taking their assessment of us at face value and agreeing with them that we are the author of our own distress. Some of us are so well "trained" to accept guilt, fault and responsibility that, when there is no one around to pin the rap on us, we do it to ourselves. We compound our pain and exacerbate it with fictitious guilt and unwarranted anger at ourselves. We are the victims of us.

It seems so illogical. There is no reason for it. Not a rational reason, anyway. Some "reasons" are not intellectual, they are emotional and are derived from the subjective attitudes that we have about ourselves. For instance, one "reason" we inflict abuse upon ourselves is that when we are confronted with the choice of letting others blame us, which we have learned from experience that they are going to do, we beat them to the punch by blaming ourselves first. It hurts less that way. It is the lesser misery that we prefer, to the even worse pain of letting others punish us.

Dave (age eleven): "I'll never get over this. I've never told anyone, it's so embarrassing. I was in sixth grade and I was very shy and self-conscious. One day, I saw a new kid in the schoolyard waiting for the doors to open. We began to talk and really got into it. I got so carried away that I offered to introduce him to my friends and show him around. As we were going upstairs to the classroom, I realized that I didn't have any friends. I didn't know any more people than he did. I had done it to myself again. I bit off more than I could chew, trying to look good. The friendship was over. I never talked to that kid again. I just cut him loose to drift for himself. I've regretted the whole thing ever since."

Dave is describing a perfectly normal, but painful, example of overcompensation for his own feelings of inferiority, of dreaming himself momentarily into a fictitious popularity that he wished he had. His all too human good intentions for his new friend crashed around his ears. His secret "inadequacy" to socialize was exposed for all the world to see. It was devastating to his shaky, half-formed self-respect. He felt guilty and angry at himself for his "stupidity." He confirmed his previously held conviction that he was his own worst enemy, the victim of his own out-of-control tongue.

Verbal self-victimizers may have periodic "attacks" of self-sabotage throughout their lives. They may, under stress, find themselves babbling like a second-grader or saying exactly the opposite of what they intended to say. Afterwards, they feel like "kicking themselves" for their gaffe, which would compound the self-victimization they have already inflicted.

There is a range of severity to all of these facets of self-contempt. Some individuals may have an extreme case of verbal self-flagellation and put their foot in their mouth every ten minutes. Others may slip up once every five years or so. Yet another group may suffer from a situational form of the aberration. Under stress, such as a divorce or a death in the family, they may revert to a less self-respecting orientation and make slips that they would never have made otherwise.

In extreme cases, these painful "choices" serve the purpose of maintaining and perpetuating the individual's lifestyle as the "Self-Victimizer." If these individuals ever stopped victimizing themselves, they would lose the role that they have been playing all their lives. They do not know what would take the place of this unhappy role and they are afraid to find out. These choices are not made consciously or deliberately in the present. Some people imagine that these self-destructive choices "prove" that the individual "enjoys" suffering. They do not. Unself-respecting people feel that they do not "deserve" to make decisions that will make them happy and successful. Their lifestyle is not consistent with happiness or success. It is consistent with unhappiness and failure. They arrange to keep themselves unhappy and unsuccessful by the decisions that they make or fail to make.

The Negative Payoffs

The self-victimizer's only consolation is the "triumph" they experience when they are able to outsmart the fates, for example, by arranging to experience a lesser pain instead of a greater pain. They have no way of knowing in advance which pain will be which; they only imagine that they do and they behave accordingly. After every disaster, they can comfort themselves by saying, "It could have been worse." They have no hope of it ever being better. This "triumph," fictitious as it is, is their payoff for making the self-victimizing decision. They go on making these decisions, because they cannot see why they should stop. To them, it is better than no payoff at all. Besides, it is the only kind of payoff that they deserve.

For people who feel that the victimization is the result of their "stupid" decisions or choices, self-inflicted pain is perceived as the appropriate "punishment" for their crimes of stupidity. This, too, is a payoff. They imagine that they have arranged for "justice to be served" through their well-deserved punishment. "I had it coming." They have averted the guilt that they would have felt if they had failed to punish themselves. This way, their self-inflicted pain entitles them to feel morally superior to those who are not "strong" enough to mete out the self-punishment that they "deserve."

Self-victimization is mischief. It does not need to be done. Self-victimizers do it because it serves their private purpose. Their negative purpose, in turn, is consistent with their negative self-percept, their self-contempt. We all too often make the mistake of focusing our energies on the act of victimization itself and not on the purpose that the activity serves. Drug abuse, alcoholism, gambling, self-harm (arm slashing), teen pregnancy, job failure and gang involvement are all ways of committing suicide on the installment plan. They all guarantee an unhappy existence. The momentary excitement of self-destructive behavior is no substitute for happiness, but negative excitement is all that these luckless people deserve. Their self-contempt makes them "Allergic To Happiness." It does not make them "Allergic To Misery."

These are the negative, usually unconscious, goals of self-destructive mischief:

Attention & Service: These people may have learned that they can get (negative) attention from the home folks by behaving self-destructively. When people come running, their self-victimization pays off. However, when the wounds heal, they must find a way to open them up again. This attention serves the purpose of validating their existence in the world.

Power & Control: Unself-respecting individuals feel powerless and out-of-control. They cannot make anything constructive happen. What does that leave? It leaves them with the option of doing that which is destructive. They cannot inflict their destructive powers on another party because the role of the "Other-Victimizer" has been taken by their big brother or sister. The only option that is left is to victimize themselves. In fact, they can even control, to some extent, the time and the place of their victimization. They wait until Mother is coming up the stairs to take their drug overdose. She rescues them in the nick of time. That is power and control. They are flirting with the power of life and death. This is the big time. They have "won" this time, but their success does not relieve their underlying feelings that they are powerless and out-of-control. They must repeat the procedure until their self-victimization becomes permanent.

Revenge: Self-victimization is one way of expressing one's anger at oneself. These sufferers are getting revenge on themselves for a whole lifetime of guilt, recriminations and failures. By keeping their revenge just this side of terminal, they can prolong the revenge process for eighty years.

Withdrawal: Individuals who devote their time and energy to cutting themselves off at the knees are too busy to attend to the life-tasks of love, work and friendship; tasks at which they might fail. If they "fail" at the task of suicidal self-victimization, they often have the feeling that, "I can't even do that right." Their friends will be relieved at their "good fortune" in not dying, but they can always try it again. In the meantime, they are exempt from their life-tasks by virtue of their affliction, whether it is drugs, criminal tendencies or negative work attitudes. All of these activities are, to some degree, self-inflicted and self-merited. Happiness and success are not congruent with their perception of themselves as victims.

Antidote - The Third Choice
The antidote to the choice between the greater pain and the lesser pain is the realization that there is a third choice, namely no pain at all. People who suffer from self-contempt imagine that they do not deserve happiness; all they deserve is pain and suffering. They prefer to bring it about themselves. Self-respecting people, however, feel that they deserve to be happy, no more and no less than anyone else. The issue of pain becomes irrelevant. The issue of who will inflict what upon whom does not arise. Their negative purposes have been replaced with positive ones.

For example, Cara was able to break the cycle of endless self-victimization by doing homework on her own behalf. She saw that her self-victimization became more intense when she was angry. Instead of harming herself as she "deserved," she was able to make conscious, deliberate choices in the here and now. She chose to validate her anger as a legitimate response to the current grievance. She also chose to direct her anger at the person who provoked her instead of directing it against herself. She is now able to "sort it out." She can say to herself, "Wait a minute, I didn't do it, he did it. I'm angry at him and he is going to hear about it." She did not feel ready yet to tell her friend Wayne that she was angry with him, so she compromised. She wrote him an anger letter. She relieved the pressure of her pent up anger and managed it. That is a major accomplishment. Her constructive purpose has been achieved. It had nothing to do with straightening out her friend's problem, which she was not qualified to do. In writing her anger letter, on her own terms and for her own benefit, she had earned the right to replace her perception of herself as a victim with an identity of her own as a worthwhile human being in her own right. That is the "good" that managing anger does.

How to Make Your Own Beats on the Internet

,
LEARN HOW TO MAKE RAP BEATS :

We see a lot of issues with emerging artists when they are picking their beats. Some do not realize that you have to follow a certain style of music, especially if you expect to get signed on with a music label.

How to Make Your Own Beats on the Internet

If you can invent something totally new when you make your own beats, you should do it! But for many of us, it is better, especially if you are just a beginner, to follow a particular style of music. You want to follow the style, but sort of improve on it. You want your beats to top all the others!

So, the challenge is to become the master of your style. After learning a particular style inside and out, the natural next step will be to mix in other styles to establish your own personal sound! Today, both novice and pro musicians are realizing the new beat making options offered by advanced technology. Combining the midi patterns, baselines, and audio loops is an important ability to acquire when you are starting to make your own beats.

Beat makers vary greatly, but all should have the basic components you need to make your own beats. The emotion or vibe of your track is made by the bass which grounds the beat. Before making the other sounds in the beat, a beat maker will usually create the base line first.

By turning a good bass line into a repeatable loop, you will be creating a good foundation for the other sounds in the beat. The groundwork of the hip hop or rap beat is the audio loop. In addition to adding many different effects, you can lengthen or crunch your beat to modify the feeling it gives. You do not have to limit your sound to just a single loop though, you can add second one. After making one loop, you can determine if that is sufficient or to add a second one.

At last you get to work on the midi drum patterns. If it improves your beat, you can have many concurrent midi drum patterns. When you lay this beat, you will notice the drum sounds will be a pattern of midi notes which can be added one at a time or converted into basic loop that repeats over your bass line.

So, a strong bass line that sets the atmosphere of the piece is a necessary when you make your own beats. Further, you can add onto that with your audio loops and midi drum patterns.

You can make your own beats into something awesome when you add the three previously mentioned elements. I hope you enjoyed this article on how to How To Make Your Own Beats. For more information on how to make beats online, read this article: Online Drum Machine.

Make Beats - How to Make Beats and Produce Beats to Survive in This Industry

,
LEARN HOW TO MAKE RAP BEATS :

When you are learning how to make beats, be very careful to understand that it is not as easy as you think it is! There are simple principles that you should follow if you are going to make it in this industry. Here are some of those principles:

Make Beats - How to Make Beats and Produce Beats to Survive in This Industry

The first thing that you should remember is why you are making beats. If you don't love making beats, stop right now and just go home, seriously. There is already enough mediocre and just downright bad music out there. Don't be part of the problem, be part of the solution! You may be able to fly under the radar for awhile with mediocre beats but it won't last long.

There needs to be a balance. The beat should not have to carry the artist and the artist should not have to carry the beat. That is why it's so important to find talent that is right for the kind of beats that you specialize in. People just think they can produce anybody. Don't get it twisted even for a second. You can't be a music producer just cause you want to be. You gotta learn so much more besides how to make beats and produce beats.

Find your style. You gotta have a particular style that is your groove, that is your signature. You always know when you are listening to a Dr. Dre beat, always. You always know when you are listening to a Timbaland beat, always. You have to find your style, that sound that sets you apart from the rest. Don't be generic. The ones that make it and last in this business are the pioneers. They are the ones that are always looking for that new sound, they are keeping their ears to the streets and you should be too if you want to make it.

To make beats work for you, you can't be held back by the artist. Don't work with artists who you don't like working with! It will seriously affect your beats and will bring out the worst in you. People will hear the disharmony in your beats. To make beats to the very best of your ability, work with an artist that you love. Work with someone where you both have the same music vision, someone that you can feed off of.

When you are really excited about a certain type of beat that you are making, don't worry about how well you think it will sell at this point. Go ahead and let them creative juices flow. Make sure that you let out all your ideas in the software as you can always shape it and edit it later. Think of making beats when you start as like a rough draft. Then you can go back and do the refining long after all the artists have gone home.

A good music producer will in fact determine how successful the artist is. You want to be known as a hit maker. You want to be known as someone to go to if an artist wants a sure thing. Once you get this kind of recognition, you'll be set for life, just like Kanye West. So don't be afraid to experiment and then shape it the way you want when you make beats, this way you can't go wrong. Read below to see what I have for you because if you have talent and are a hard worker, I really want to see you succeed.
